AI to defend nonsense, fake news, logical fallacies and manipulative sales etc. in data and spoken word

AI (Artificial Intelligence), ML (machine learning) and Blockchain technology in combination that listens/reads to conversations, news etc. and fact-checks the statements in real-time.

Upon detection of nonsense, a notification goes off.

Why?

  • Protect people from the spread of misinformation
  • This will give an trusted impact to the accuracy of the Blockchain technology
  • Protect Data Security

How it works – Face2Face or written words/Internet etc.

Let me start by saying that the technology might not be quite there yet, but we should be pretty close.

  1. Two people are having a conversation and one of them decides that it would be a good idea to fact-check everything they say. They turn on the app on one of their phones.

or

There is a news and the consumer decides that it would be a good idea to fact-check everything they say. They turn on the app on ohis phone.

  1. The AI listens to speech and converts it to text in real-time.

or

The AI reads the written word.

  1. Sentences that don’t sound right to GPT3 are ignored. We can assume that the software did not properly understand/convert the speech to text. As the technology evolves the number of ignored sentences should be reduced.

  2. Sentences that seem ok when convereted to text are fact-checked online.

  3. Ifmisconceptions/misinformation
is detected, a discreet notification beep/light goes off.

  4. The speaker can elaborate on what they said to provide more context and see if this passes without triggering the notification.

  5. Either way, the conversation continues.

  6. At the end of the conversation the entire transcription is sent to both parties. The misconceptions are marked and resources to proper information linked on the side.

  7. If the software made a mistake in identifying misconceptions, any of the conversation participants can set it straight (provide citations and quote reputable sources). This gets reviewed by the app moderators/developers that continuously work on improvements.

Different modes

Depending on the purpose of the conversation, the software can be configured to detect different things. For example people can opt to be defended from logical fallacies, manipulative sales, etc.

The idea is to create an open database of all Datas ever made and and all data to come. Each Data should be well researched to find:

  • its origin
  • the author
  • the reason it spread
  • circles where it spreads
  • link it to evidence-based explainers
    that prove it wrong
  • explain the fears, logical fallacies, and biases that are at play in people that are drawn to it
  • link it to a group of similar facts
  • who and how they benefit by creating/spreading it
  • anything else?

Anyone should be able to add new facts but each should be researched and worked on before it goes public on the database website. The system would function similarly to Wikipedia but bigger.

The ultimate goal of such a database is to help teach people how to better filter information they consume and to socialize data again.

wow. so much potential in this very complex idea. you’re right: Ai + ML + Blokchain to sort, filter, store, check and proof data could be ‘THE’ solution to make the world easier. this should be an supported project with a research work team for a couple of years with specialists from various fields

Thanks, for your words @t-c-z-x-3

This is an Idea I had longer in my mind. Now I found this place to share my concept with you guys.

I’am a science and information based graphic designer from Berlin and addicted to science, art, blockchain and technology. My passion is to combine these disciplines to solve future problems. And in this age of information and data, we need a peaceful and trusted system to handle these things.

Don’t how ORAI will use this ideas – but I like your idea to create a team for this “project”. I’am there to take part with all my skills.

We have the tools so lets work with these!

I also support this idea, although it would probably take larger team to pull of. Also there would be a need for funding this from the start, because it probably wont be usable for few years.

Extending idea

With the source data already processed, and by that I mean scientific studies etc. There could be a modul to find plagiarism among those studies. With current system of monetization of Scientific studies, there is a lot of plagiarism or parasiting on students works.

Cheers from Czechia!

The problem is globalized digital networking and a huge pile of unsorted data. A funded team can analyze and hopefully solve the problem. So think big and then refine all collected ideas. The technology will work for us. In my opinion: We need a system to handle mass data to find social balance again. We should challenge the existing structures – to find new answers. If the Future is a perspective we should start designing and exploring it now.

Your “Extending idea” is great because it gives a smaller, but clearer example to the idea

i was inspired and also submitted an idea right now

Thats why we are here: I believe that good ideas can be made brilliant through collaboration. I think AI, ML and Blockchain are the important topics for this ongoing decade. Looking forward to collaborate with you all

Fake news isn’t new.

What the difference is now is this idea of digital media and how fast information goes around. As the idea from you: Blockchain and Ai can be used to sort and guide us throw the mass of information.

I would suggest two techniques that the Ai needs to learn to verify information: triangulation and lateral reading. Triangulation means confirming a story in at least three news sources. Lateral reading involves opening up new tabs in your browser to investigate sites or claims as you encounter them.

All the best & hope the idea will lead the competition!

As I said, I will post more keywords, extensions, options, problems, to brainstorm and collect more about this idea:

  • When the AI finds multiple suitable quotes, offer them all and have the person select which to incorporate

  • An option to GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) rewrite quotes in more concise words

  • An option to expand the article with brief explanations of concepts/terms that are difficult to understand. Select a word or a sentence that needs to be better explained

  • An option to rewrite the article based on the level of the reader’s expertise in the subject matter

  • What else?

I understand that this tool has the potential to be abused by taking quotations out of context to legitimize wrong news etc. It could be a confirmation bias trap for the tool user.

So this idea is also about figuring out a way to guard against misuse.

And thanks to ORAI-Team, they mentioned that I’am leading the competition so far.

Please add content, keywords etc. and let’s discuss the idea deeper!

To be continued…

You have more information about “The History of Fake News”?
Haven’t thought about it, but to look back to the past is always a good idea for the future.

And also your keywords: “Triangulation” and “Lateral reading” are interesting.

Nice.
